I bought this stroller about two weeks ago from a warehouse club and, although I like it, I was surprised to find that it was built in 2006!
I did not purchase from Amazon, but I think that they are also selling the 2006 model based on the advertised model numbers and the color of the logo stitching.
My "new" 2006 model is in perfect condition and seems no worse the wear for four years spent sitting in a warehouse. However, if you were expecting a 2010 stroller you may be disappointed.
I bought this stroller due to it's compact fold. I was looking for an alternative to an umbrella stroller due to the dimensions of my car's trunk. I compared this stroller to the 2010 Quinny Zapp 4 and, for me, this was the clear winner. While it doesn't feel as sturdy as the Zapp, it certainly doesn't feel unstable, either. And I've found no reports of the Easy Fold tipping over, unlike the Zapp. For me the real deal breaker was weight! This stroller is 12 lbs; the Zapp 4 is 18 lbs!
Pros:
* Truly lightweight!
* It locks when folded. You must lock it manually, but once locked it is very compact and easy to move in and out of the trunk. However, it would still be too bulky/akward to easily carry for a long time.
* It seems to have decent suspension for a stroller of this size. (However, I've only pushed my very petite one year old and can't say how the suspension would do with a heavier child.)
* This stroller features nice, quiet wheels. No hard plastic.
* I like that this stroller has a recline position. Even though it's not a deep recline.
* This stroller is reasonably pedicure-friendly. You do need to push up on a lever with your foot to release the brake, but you don't have to push hard. And there is NO foot action required for the fold.
* The arch in the back is set pretty far forward, also the wheels are set about 19" apart. So (at 5'4") I don't kick this stroller even when walking quickly. That's an advantage over the umbrella strollers I've tried.
* The compact fold takes up little space in the trunk. It actually fits in next to my behemoth travel system stroller and even fits (vertically) in the footwells of the backseat of my car. I just wish it fit in my gym locker!
* Apx. 20" width is much narrower than my travel system stroller. I even managed to peruse the clearance racks at Carter's today pretty nimbly! That was an unfulfilled dream all those months with the larger stroller. ;)
Cons:
* No removeable, washable seat. Really. You would have to unscrew the pad from the frame and those same screws are holding the frame together. I wouldn't chance it!
* I wish it had a carry strap. Especially since the carry bag would barely fit in the basket of the stroller...
* In fact, the "basket" is a complete joke. I carry a very small clutch purse with my keys clipped to it. It fits perfectly in this basket, and then the basket is full. It works for quick errands, but there is no way to fit shopping in this basket.
* My daughter does slouch quite a bit in this stroller. But, I think that's typical with the hammock style seats used on compact folding strollers.
* The canopy is useless. It may shade the face of an older, taller child. But, it does NOTHING for my 30" one year old.
Other things to know:
* Maclaren seat liners fit perfectly and will help to keep the fabrics clean.
* There is a mesh pocket, rather large on the back of the seat. I've actually used it to carry the large cup from an iced, venti drink once I'd drunk it down a bit. Worked well!
* The raincover is large, would very thoroughly protect baby from the weather. Unfortunately, it's so large (and storage on the stroller is so limited) that I never bring it with me.
* Seat to floor measurement is apx. 15"... slightly higher than Maclaren, but lower than the Zapp.
* This stroller does not have a standing fold, in or out of the bag.
* Front wheels do not lock.
* Footrest is not adjustable (again, par for the course with compact fold strollers.)
* No peek-a-boo window in the canopy of this (2006) model. That is the one feature that I know was added to the 2010 model.
* Brakes are not linked. Instead you have an old-school individual brake lever next to each rear tire.
* Handling on this stroller is fine. Nothing compared to the Zapp, of course, but for the money I find it completely adequate. I can even steer with one hand, though I have to concentrate a bit and my wrist tires after awhile.
* It's available for $79.99 including shipping ($40 less than the Amazon price) at a popular national warehouse club.
Happy shopping!
