I had done a lot of research on the Quinny Zapp before purchasing one myself. Everything I had heard about this product was raving reviews. I even recommended it to a friend based on those reviews, who loves it herself. Then I purchased my own Zapp for a vacation we took w/ our 16month old and 32month old kids. When I first got it, they were fighting over who got to sit in the stroller (this was in the house). I thought I should buy another one so they could each sit!
But, then it came time to using this stroller. A major major disappointment. Yes, it does fold down really really small, but that is not so helpful, considering that there is NO WAY TO DO THIS ONE HANDED!!! There are multiple steps, which each require 2 hands to do, the bottom latch is very complicated to get to fold down; I found myself muttering curse words under my breath at the thing!! Yes, it comes w/ a cool carry bag, but you are sweating until you get it in and closed (watch the video above and even the demonstrater is pushing to get it in).
Next, the buckle is a real pain. The right and left clips are a puzzle and you have to put them together and then click into the crotch clasp. With a squirming toddler, this is nearly impossible. At many points on the trip, my husband had to hold down my daughter while I strapped her in!
The seat does not recline. At all. I thought this was no big deal since my daughter hardly ever naps in the stroller. But, at two points in our trip she did, and while napping, she was falling over cause it did not recline. I found myself pushing the stroller on the back two wheels so she would not topple herself over.
Yes, this is a lightweight stroller but not so light that it was a breeze to pick up and the flip side is that you CANNOT PUT ANYTHING ON THE HANDLE BARS!!! It topples backward. This was a major problem; my daughter fell backwards a few times. Especially when traveling, you have so much stuff w/ kids, limited hands and the stroller is not useful.
The basket is not very large at all. Cannot put your diaper bag inside. Just a small shopping bag w/ a few diapers, wipes, the kids' sweatshirts. That's it.
Two positives- 1. it pushes and turns easily. 2. The lock feature is innovative and easy to use. Step on the red one to lock, step on the gray one to unlock.
My overall opinion-
in this price point, go for the City Mini. It costs the same amount of money, has a full recline feature, does not topple over, easiest one hand fold in the world, relatively easy locking mechanism. just 3 pounds heavier, but you are getting a full featured stroller.
I am going to be selling my quinny on craigslist....
